The NAIT Ooks women's hockey team is preparing for a best 2 out of 3 series with Red Deer Polytechnic, with Head Coach Brendan Jensen stressing the need for a united and disciplined performance in all areas of the game.
Over the course of the season, the Ooks have developed strong chemistry and taken meaningful strides as a group. Jensen believes that connection and collective buy-in will be a driving force behind their postseason success. "The team has been outstanding this season and really enjoys being ingrained in the process", Coach Jensen stated.
With the playoffs fast approaching, the Ooks remain unfazed by the heightened stakes, approaching the moment with confidence and composure.. "We are playing really well as a group right now. In the second half we went 6-2-1 and have been defending really well leading up to playoffs", Jensen said.
Although individual talent will certainly make an impact, Jensen continues to prioritize the basics and the details that drive consistent success. "Our priority is staying committed to our habits and taking care of the small, controllable details each day. If we handle those, the results will follow." The Ooks plan to dictate the flow of the game by remaining composed, bringing steady intensity, and executing the little details with precision.
With the pressure mounting and the postseason energy building, the Ooks are prepared to leave it all on the ice as they chase a championship run. The Ooks women's hockey team will face off against the Red Deer Queens on February 27th in a best two-out-of-three game series for the first round.
