With the ACAC Championships just around the corner, NAIT Women's Volleyball is entering the post season with focus, drive, and determination. Head Coach Erminia Russo Thorpe reflects on how the team's chemistry and cohesion have continued to evolve as they prepare for provincials this weekend.
"I feel what has shaped the team leading up to now is taking the strengths of each individual and making it a team effort", said Coach Thorpe.
The team has maintained the same mindset throughout the season, with bench players coming on court, the goal remains the same at the end of the game for the Ooks women's volleyball team, "That each contributes in practice or in a match, whether as a starter or coming off the bench," she said.
As championship week arrives, Russo Thorpe has narrowed the team's focus to key areas that need refinement, "Focusing on the task at hand and not at the result or what has happened prior to the Championships. Play by play, point by point until each rally and set is complete."
She also emphasized the overall excitement they have going into the weekend with redemption from last year's season. "We are obviously excited and looking to improve our finish from last season."
The NAIT Women's Volleyball team enters the ACAC Championships with a strong sense of belief, trusting that their preparation and relentless dedication will be the driving forces behind their performance. The Ooks hit the court in the quarter-finals against the SAIT Trojans at 1 PM this Friday.
