Day 5 Recap:
The NAIT Ooks men's curling team capped off an incredible week at the 2026 CCAA Curling National Championship in Regina with a national silver medal, finishing as the second-best collegiate team in Canada.
Semifinal:
The Ooks opened the final day with a semifinal matchup against the Gaillards du Cégep de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue and rose to the occasion. NAIT struck first in the opening end. The Gaillards answered with one in the second and two in the third to take a 3–1 lead. The Ooks responded in the fourth to cut the deficit to one, but the Gaillards added another in the fifth to regain momentum.
That's when NAIT delivered its defining moment of the game. The Ooks erupted for three in the sixth to take control and followed it up with another in the seventh to seal a 6–4 victory and punch their ticket to the gold medal game.
Gold Medal Game:
In the championship final, the Ooks faced the undefeated Humber Hawks. NAIT battled hard against a dominant Humber squad, but the Hawks proved why they were unbeaten, taking the game 7–2 to secure gold.
Despite the loss, the Ooks leave Regina as CCAA National Silver Medalists which is a tremendous accomplishment on the national stage.
Tournament Honours
The success didn't stop at the podium:

Head Coach Karynn Flory-Simmons was named CCAA Coach of the Year, a testament to her leadership and the program's growth.

The entire NAIT men's team was named CCAA Second Team All-Stars, recognizing their outstanding performance throughout the championship.
From round robin grit to semifinal heroics and a silver medal finish, it was a successful and memorable tournament for the Ooks at the Callie Curling Club.
Day 4 Recap:
It was an incredible Day Four for the NAIT Ooks men's curling team at the 2026 CCAA Curling National Championship in Regina, as the Ooks earned back-to-back victories and officially punched their ticket to the semifinals.
NAIT VS Assinibione:
The Ooks opened the day against the Assiniboine Cougars in a back-and-forth battle. The Cougars struck first with one in the opening end, but NAIT responded with two in the second to take the lead. Assiniboine answered with two in the third to reclaim it, before the Ooks put up two more in the fourth to swing momentum once again.
The Cougars continued to push, adding two in the fifth to keep things tight, but NAIT locked in down the stretch. The Ooks scored two in the sixth, one in the seventh, and another in the eighth to close out an 8–5 victory.
NAIT VS Sault:
With playoff positioning on the line, the Ooks faced Sault College in another tight contest. Sault opened the scoring, but NAIT answered emphatically with three in the second. The Ooks added one in the third and another in the fourth to build a commanding 5–1 lead.
Sault refused to go quietly, scoring two in the fifth and singles in both the sixth and seventh to make it a one-point game. In a pressure-packed eighth end, the Ooks clawed back and secured the lone point needed to seal a 6–5 victory — and with it, a spot in the CCAA semifinals.
NAIT will now face the Gaillards du Cégep de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue in the semifinal tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM.
Day 3 Recap:
Day Three at the 2026 CCAA Curling National Championship in Regina brought another test of resilience for the NAIT Ooks men's curling team — and they responded when it mattered most.
NAIT VS Humber:
The Ooks opened the day against the undefeated Humber Hawks, who came out firing with two in the first. After a scoreless second, Humber added another in the third to take a 3–0 lead.
NAIT answered in the fourth to get on the board, but Humber extended its advantage with two more in the fifth to go up 5–1.
The Ooks refused to back down. They mounted a strong push with two in the sixth and another in the seventh, narrowing the gap to 5–4 and putting the pressure back on the Hawks. However, Humber responded with two in the eighth to seal a 7–4 decision.
NAIT VS Gaillards du Cégep de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue:
Needing a strong response to stay in the playoff conversation, the Ooks delivered in their second matchup against the Gaillards du Cégep de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
The Gaillards opened the scoring, but NAIT quickly flipped momentum with two in the second to take a 2–1 lead. From there, the Ooks found their rhythm, adding one in the third and erupting for four in the fourth to take control of the game.
The Gaillards attempted a comeback with three in the fifth, but NAIT stayed composed and responded with one in the sixth and another in the seventh to close out a convincing 9–4 victory.
With the split, the Ooks continue to battle through round robin play at the Callie Curling Club, keeping themselves firmly in the mix as championship weekend approaches.
Day 2 Recap:
It was a rollercoaster Day Two for the NAIT Ooks men's curling team at the 2026 CCAA Curling National Championship in Regina, as they split their two matchups and now sit at 2–1 through the first two days of competition.
NAIT VS Mohawk:
The Ooks opened the day against the defending national champions, the Mohawk Mountaineers, in what started as a tight defensive battle. The game remained scoreless through the first two ends before Mohawk broke through in the third to get on the board. After a scoreless fourth, the Mountaineers took control in the fifth, capitalizing on momentum to score three and extend their lead to 4–0. They added another in the sixth to go up 5–0.
NAIT showed resilience in the seventh, battling back to put two on the board, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome as the Ooks fell 5–2 in a hard-fought contest.
NAIT VS CUE:
Following a tough morning loss, the Ooks regrouped and delivered in the afternoon against the Concordia Thunder in a thrilling matchup that required an extra end to decide. Concordia struck first in the second, taking a 2–0 lead. NAIT responded with one in the third, but the Thunder added singles in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to build a 5–1 advantage.
With their backs against the wall, the Ooks came alive in the seventh, putting together a huge three-point end to shift the momentum. They added another in the eighth to tie the game and force an extra end. In the ninth, NAIT capitalized on their opportunity, scoring the decisive point to secure a 6–5 victory and bounce back in a big way.
With the split on Day Two, the Ooks move to 2–1 in round robin play at the Callie Curling Club and will look to carry that momentum into tomorrow morning's matchup.

The Trojans came out strong in the opening end, jumping ahead 2–0. The Ooks responded quickly, cutting the lead in half after two ends, but SAIT added another in the third to take a 3–1 advantage. NAIT stayed composed and shifted momentum in the fourth, putting together a big end and scoring three to take their first lead of the game. The Ooks added another point in the fifth to go up by two, but SAIT answered in the sixth to tie things up and force NAIT to dig deep.
With the game hanging in the balance, the Ooks delivered when it mattered most, scoring two in the seventh and adding one more in the eighth to secure the 8–5 victory. The win gives NAIT a strong start to round robin play as they continue their push for a national title at the Callie Curling Club.
Championship Preview
On the CCAA men's side, the reigning national champions, the Mohawk Mountaineers, return looking to defend their 2025 title. They'll face stiff competition from past champions including the Concordia Thunder and the Humber Hawks, who have combined for four of the last six CCAA men's championships.
With repeat champions becoming the trend in recent years, every draw will matter as teams battle through a packed round robin schedule to earn a spot in the semifinals.
The 2026 championship marks another major national event hosted at the Callie Curling Club, continuing Regina's proud tradition of welcoming Canada's top curling talent.

Representing the ACAC on the National Stage
The Ooks punched their ticket to nationals after capturing ACAC gold in dominant fashion, earning the right to represent the conference against the best collegiate programs in Canada. Now, the focus shifts to consistency, execution, and rising to the moment on curling's biggest collegiate stage.
