The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Nolan Peters of the NAIT Ooks has been named the 2026 ACAC Men's Curling Player of the Year.
Peters has been a key contributor to the NAIT Ooks curling program throughout his collegiate career and played an integral role in the team's most successful season to date. The third-year curler helped lead the Ooks to a strong start to the season, opening with a perfect 5–0 record at the first ACAC bonspiel. Despite facing challenges at the second bonspiel, the team finished the regular season with an impressive 8–2 record, securing first place in the division heading into the ACAC Championships.
At the ACAC Men's Curling Championship, Peters continued his strong play as the Ooks defeated SAIT 8–3 to capture the ACAC banner. The victory capped off a standout season for Peters and the team and provided momentum as they prepare to represent the conference at the upcoming CCAA National Championships.
"Nolan may be the youngest on the team, but his maturity and calm presence make a big impact," said head coach Karynn Flory-Simmons. "As lead, he works tirelessly to set up each end, brings quiet confidence in key moments, and is a consistently positive presence for his teammates."
Peters is from Redwater, Alberta, and is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration program at NAIT. Now in his third year with the Ooks, he has been a consistent and dependable presence on the ice, earning recognition as one of the conference's top athletes and a valuable member of the NAIT curling program.
This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2026 ACAC Curling Championship hosted by Portage College in Lac la Biche, Alberta.
