The NAIT Ooks curling teams are set to make their mark at the upcoming ACAC Curling Championship in Lac La Biche, hosted by Portage College, from January 30th - February 1st.
The men's team holds an impressive 8–2 record, while the mixed team sits firmly in second place at 6–3. Head coach Karyn Flory-Simmons remains optimistic as both squads prepare to take on the challenges ahead.
After putting together an outstanding season, the men's team is trying to qualifying for the CCAA Curling Nationals in Regina, Saskatchewan. "Both our Men's and Mixed teams are feeling confident heading into ACAC Championships weekend. We've had strong, focused practices and are coming in prepared and ready to compete" said Karynn Flory-Simmons, Head Coach of the curling team.
A major lesson the team has taken from this season is just how crucial shot tolerance and the ability to adapt quickly really are. As they prepare for the championship, the Ooks have been sharpening their delivery, making smart in-game adjustments, and leaning on simple cues to keep themselves locked in when things don't go as planned.
Now, the Ooks turn their focus toward chasing an ACAC championship. Let's go Ooks!
