It was a historic weekend for the NAIT Ooks women's basketball team, highlighted by a spectacular performance from senior guard Mikah Reed. In Saturday's match-up against the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks, Reed delivered one of the greatest shooting displays in ACAC history by scoring 46 points and draining 14 three-pointers, setting a new ACAC all-time record for most threes in a single game. Her performance also helped the Ooks tie the ACAC team record with 17 three-pointers made in a game.
Reed, a fifth-year student-athlete in the Bachelor of Business Administration program, is in her third season with the Ooks after joining the team in 2023–24. Her growth year over year has been remarkable. She scored 225 points in her first season and 180 last season, despite battling injury. Now at the halfway mark of 2024–25, she already sits at 176 points, putting her on pace to surpass her first-year total in significantly fewer minutes. Reed has only logged 348 minutes this season which shows proof of her efficiency, resilience, and determination to make her senior year unforgettable.
Head Coach Kiera Lyons praised Reed's impact on and off the court, sharing:
"As great a shooter as Mikah is, she's a better teammate and a better person. She's the first to celebrate others and a leader on the floor that coaches dream about. Her development has been astounding and it's a testament to the work she puts in and her passion for the game. Couldn't be happier for her but not surprised in the slightest."
With her record-breaking performance and continued leadership, Mikah Reed is cementing her legacy as one of the program's most impactful shooters—one who represents the heart, work ethic, and excellence of NAIT Athletics.
