NAIT Men's Hockey: 2025 Season Preview
October 17, 2025
The new season for a sport's fans is exciting and thrilling, and for the athletes, it is no different. However, it goes beyond that; it is a mixture of feelings and a period of time where they need to prepare and tap into their best energy, performing exceptionally.
In a sport that requires great ability, like ice Hockey, where, apart from the usual skills of speed and endurance that the sport requires, there must be great control of ice skating and using the hockey stick. In order to prepare for a new season, the composition of the team and its strategy will be the key pieces for all to be in place and work perfectly. For this season, the composition hasn't changed in the team since there are only five new athletes, and the rest of them are in their second, third and fourth year, which is supported by the great variety of personalities that the team possesses and the excitement that the players feel when they are around the rink is a great recipe for a successful team.
The team that works together and has a group vision of what the bigger and best goal is for everyone has an ease in leading their way, and the strength of the male hockey team is in their depth. They will play together and will align their vision of what their personal goals are with what they could do as a team, fulfilling both faster and not focusing just on one aspect at a time, but also supporting and encouraging others to make the team stronger and better each time.
Those advantages will help the team to stay sharp during the year and assist the leaders that the team possesses to overcome the challenges that will appear in the future and to maintain a good place throughout the matches.
The philosophy under which the team is maintained is also of great importance for good performance keeping. great environment and helping the recruits that the team has for the season, not feeling as outsiders, and be able to join in the unification that the team requires. Head coach Scott Fellnermayr expresses how he visualizes his coaching style with the team:
"I see myself as a teacher and developer first. I want players to understand concepts and be able to think for themselves, not just follow along with the arrows I draw on the board."
He also adds that his goal is not only to make a great team out of the athletes but also to transform them into a team that is and is visualized as a strong team difficult to go against, and that is achieved with encouragement, doing things in a way which you can transform pressure into strength and minimizing mistakes by talking them shiffting what it is considered negative and giving it a different perspective to get a benefit and a inspiration.
That point of view to confront any challenge in a sport such as hockey that requires a lot of ability, as previously stated, is what will give the hockey team an unmatchable advantage this season.
