After an impactful 9-year journey with the NAIT Ooks Men's Volleyball Program, Jordan Taylor will be leaving NAIT to embark on a new chapter in his coaching career. Taylor will be taking his expertise to the York University Lions, ready to make an impact in a new environment.
Taylor's coaching journey with the Ooks began in 2014 when he assumed the role of assistant coach. In 2021, Taylor was named Head Coach, leading the team through two memorable years of growth and success.
During his time as Head Coach, Taylor achieved remarkable milestones for the NAIT Men's Volleyball Program. He steered the team to their first appearance in the ACAC Championship Gold Medal Final in over four decades, and with his guidance, the program witnessed its best winning percentage in over 20 years. Consistency became a hallmark of the team, with back-to-back top 4 finishes in the competitive ACAC.
"It has been a pleasure to have Jordan coach our men's volleyball program for the past two seasons. His work ethic and professionalism elevated both the men's volleyball program and our department to a different level. We would like to thank Jordan for his time at NAIT and wish him nothing but the best as he takes his talents to Ontario," said NAIT Athletics Director Jordan Richey.
Taylor's recruiting style has set the team up for a competitive 2023/24 season, adding three international players from New Zealand and some high-end transfers to their already strong core of returning players. He will be handing the reigns to Phil Dixon.
"NAIT Athletics is excited to have Phil step in to guide our men's volleyball program for the upcoming season. Phil's experience and familiarity with the team and staff make him the perfect choice to assume the role of interim Head Coach for the team. The players and the department are looking forward to working with Phil to continue the strong culture that has been established throughout the men's volleyball program," said Richey.
More on Coach Dixon will be coming shortly. As for now, thank you to Coach Jordan Taylor for his hard work and commitment to the program. Once an Ook, always an Ook! Good luck!
